Pause doesn't 'Pause' - it should

i think it would be best if it actually paused in single player. In multiplayer i get why they still move

This is unlikely to change, but we will keep it open for review in 2.0

Huge fan of the original TJ&E as well as BITG, but this is my main complaint.
In the original, pausing would effectively freeze everything happening around you. I understand that this may not be ideal for an online play situation, but I think that it should be adjusted for single-player and local co-op to go back to how it was in the first TJ&E.
With the way it currently stands, it feels a bit like cheating. You can just use the present menu as a fall-back and just wait until the enemies disappear off of the screen and not even have to use a present.
I think this should be strongly considered.

Fix the issue of enemies still moving during dialogue/menus

anytime you're in a menu of any kind, enemies still roam around and can just position themselves next to your character,
meaning you'll instantly get damaged after you resume playing and there's nothing you can do.
Either make enemies stop moving at all during menu sections or NPC interaction or just give players a couple iframes after you're done clicking through a big menu that covers the entire screen.

pause and opening presents stops Earthlings from harming you.
i also witnessed Earthlings getting up in your grill while in a menu, paused, inventory, chat with GoodEarthling, etc. thereby as soon as you leave this "safezone" you are attacked.
solution: de-aggro earthlings when paused/item menu/earthling dialog

This is currently intended behavior. It's so other players can move and play while another play stays pauses.

Nap: In the context of my report, I was playing in solo, where I would expect pausing the game to pause the game

I understand there's some disagreement on this, but I vote for the pause for pause as well as the presents menu doing more pausing. When chased by an earthling and opening the presents menu, there seems to be about a 50% chance that the earthling walks away... well now I don't need to open a present. I've also had the opposite happen - an earthling comes in from offscreen and gets up in my business.
It's also a little weird that after identifying several presents, the carrot man has walked away to somewhere else completely.
My humble suggestion would be that all earthlings visible on screen should be paused unless they're also visible to another player.

Jerry Pasnikowski: This is intentional, you can freeze an enemy in place by opening the present menu, then a friend can walk over and "Hey over here!" (with the Quick Chat) to peel enemies off of you if you have no presents

Nap: What I'm saying is that just as often, opening the present menu DOESN'T freeze the enemy chasing me, or prevent new enemies from chasing me. (And this is also playing solo.) My suggested functionality would still allow the scenario you put forth while solving the scenarios raised by J and me.
I understand that this is intentional behavior but respectfully disagree that this is how it should work. To me, it seems especially awkward and exploitable. But as it's not a bug, maybe this could be migrated to the feature request list.

Nap: I agree with Jerry. If an enemy is chasing me, I just open the present menu and then they walk away. Meaning I can literally beat the game without ever opening a single present because I can never get hurt under any circumstances unless I get unlucky. This should not work this way, at least in solo mode.
