[Steam] After HFZ, Ground doesn't render on level below

Sometimes the level beneath the one you are currently playing only renders the sprites and not the terrain, so everything is floating in space.

I probably wouldn't notice the level below missing except for the elevator floating in space.

You see items other than the elevator? I've had a very similar issue, but I don't get anything but the elevator.
